June 10th, Monday

Today we went on tour with Uncle Neil and Iris around Dawson Creek and area. Firdt visit was the art gallery and Museum in the old grain elevator. With the use of videos, pictures and artifacts the Museum told the story of how the Alaska Highway was built in 1942 in 8 months. Thousands of men and machinery worked day and night through bush, mountains, bugs, animals, bogs to provide a road for the war effort. A cute little Irish girl served us a delicious lunch at Brown's Social House. A tour of the town, the new 60 million dollar rec centre, the country side with huge farms, and a neat local pub (Rolla Pub) finished our afternoon. Bernie's first cousin Dan, his wife Janet, son and daughter, Sam and Nicole and Dan's Mom's first cousins Laurie and Doug and family's came for a chinese dinner. Had a great time !
