July 2nd, Tuesday
Bernie talking to his Mom. Warm, sunny day - up to 37 degrees. Our first highlight of the day was a "free" 35 min ferry ride from Balfour to Kootenay Bay. It is the longest free ferry in North America or the world (depends on who you talk too). 5 min off the ferry we stopped in a little artisan town called Crawford Bay. A potter, blacksmith, glass blower, weaver and a broom maker - this little broom maker made the brooms for the Harry Potter movies ! How cool is that !
As we came into the area of Creston we were hit with fields of canola, orchards and vineyards. What a brilliant colour. In Cranbrook Bernie found a quilt shop! I had to go "fondle the fabric" for a few minutes .....Bernie went for a coffee. Over the Crowsnest Pass and back into Alberta - and lost an hour.
