March 23rd - 24th, 2015

Back to Florida on a 9 am flight from Phoenix. We met Fairlie and Steve McKnight in the airport also heading back to their place in Venice, FL. They had flown out to visit and babysit their son Nick's children while he and his wife attended Evan and Rachel's wedding. In our unit at Far Horizons and on the beach by 5pm. Great time but nice to be settled in for a while. Our unit has been updated with a paint job, new beds, dressers, and carpet. Great to fall asleep with the surf in the back ground.

March 16th - March 18th, 2015

When we left in the morning it was 6 degrees and when we rolled into The Villages it was 32 degrees - shorts time !! Had a great Italian supper and listened to a live band at the Spanish Springs town center, visited with Garry and Jane and morning breakfast with Dianne, Ivan, Susan and Morris. We stayed at The Holiday Inn at the Villages. St Patrick's Day we arrived in Largo to spend the night with Sharman and Roy but first we celebrated the Irish day at Flanagan's Pub where the band was from Ch'town
( Guinness)
On Wed we met Bob and Karen for a Blue Jays spring training game - had a good time but disappointed the BJ's only had 1 starter playing and they lost big time to Tampa Bay. It was a beautiful hot day and we closed it out with a barbecue at B and K's condo and a fantastic sunset. They are bracing for another storm at home.

March 15th, 2015 Sunday

What a change in the weather. Left Scranton this morning at 8am and it was 2 degrees and when we arrived in Rock Hill, SC (outside of Charlotte) the temperature was 25 degrees. Wow ! Driving thru Virginia we spotted a bit of green grass and then a bit more, and more and more.  Trees in bud and an occasional daffodil in bloom and the sun shining. In Rock Hill trees were in blossom. We have another 1000 kms under our belt.(down the 81 and 77). Tomorrow it is shorts or capris. And the poor folks back home are being  battered with another snowstorm and more to come this week.

March 13th and 14th, 2015

On the road and heading south. Great visit with Grammie Jeanne on Friday and then a mere 1100 kms on Saturday to Scranton, Penn. ( the 95, 495, 90, 290, 84 and 81). Weather was fine until noon and then the rain and fog settled in and made for a messy drive. We had lunch with Steve Lockhart at the Maine Diner near Kennabunkport

April 21 - 29, 2014

The last few days at the beach were beautiful  - sunny and warm. We walked, swam, relaxed, played golf with John and Deb from Far Horizons, dinner at the condo with the Milners, afternoon on the beach and dinner with Marjorie, Ripper, BoBo, Pam, Rhonda, Grant, Pete and Beth, and relaxed some more.

Then we had a problem. After a nice walk on the beach Fri morning we discovered we had mixed up our departure date. It was not on Sat but Fri. So  we packed up, said our good byes and on the road by 12:30. Onto the 275, the 75, the 301 and finally to the 95 and motored 675 kms  to Walterboro, SC (exit 53). Delicious dinner at Ruby Tuesday's which we never tried before. For our trip home we decided to take the 95 all the way north. Interesting but probably won't do it again - traffic, tolls and more tolls, construction. Second day did 1200 kms and pulled off the road just south of New York City where the traffic was really backed up. Third day was cool (long pants weather) and the route was the 95 thru NY city, NJ turnpike, 91, 84, 90, 495 and back to the 95 to Kennebunkport. Spent the night with Steve, Mary, Erica and Dave (who became engaged Fri night). Crossed the border at Centreville on Tues, overnight with Grammie, lunch on Wed with Billy, a quick visit with Derek, Katja and Christoph and home by 7pm. Bernie not feeling well so it was really great to be home and recover in familiar surroundings. We had a great trip especially when it was bad weather at home when we were away - storm after storm
